Frequently asked questions
What does Flits cost?
Nothing. Flits is free for guests. You pay for table deals at the venue as usual, with the discount taken off your bill. For a takeaway deal, you only pay the deal price, with no service fees.
What's the difference between a table deal and a takeaway deal?
A table deal gives you a discount when you eat or drink in: you claim a spot for free and pay at the venue. With a takeaway deal, you buy a product or bundle at a fixed price, for example 2 croissants for €3. You pay up front in the app and collect it within the pickup time slot.
How do I claim a table?
Open the deal and slide to claim. Choose how many of you are coming and roughly how soon you'll be there. The first time, you log in with your email address and a 6-digit code, and confirm your mobile number once. At the venue, show your QR code or 6-digit code. Staff check you in and take the discount off your bill.
How long do I have to get there?
Once you've claimed, your arrival time starts: usually 30 minutes, though the venue can choose anything from 15 to 60 minutes. You'll see exactly how long in the deal before you claim, and then counting down in the app and on your Lock Screen.
Can I cancel a table claim?
Yes. Cancelling is free up to 10 minutes before the end of your arrival time. You can cancel later too, but it counts as half a strike. Always cancel if you're not coming, so your spot goes to someone else.
What happens if I don't show up?
Then it's a no-show. Your 1st no-show gets a warning. A 2nd within 60 days means no claims for 7 days, a 3rd means no claims for 30 days. Strikes expire after 90 days. Think a strike is wrong, for example because you were there? Appeal it in the app under Profile → Reliability.
How many table deals can I claim at once?
You can have 1 active table claim at a time. Per venue, you can make max. 1 table claim a day and 4 a month; the venue can change this. Takeaway orders don't count towards this.
Can I bring more or fewer people than I claimed for?
One person more or fewer is fine. The discount applies per checked-in person or per table, as stated in the deal. Want to let your group know where and when? Share your ticket from the app.
The deal is full. What now?
Turn on a notification in the app. If a spot or item becomes available, the first people on the waiting list get a notification and 2 minutes' priority.
How do I pay for a takeaway deal?
Straight away in the app, with Apple Pay, iDEAL | Wero or your card. You get a receipt with the venue as the seller. Your payment details are held by Stripe, not Flits.
Can I cancel a takeaway deal?
Yes, for free up to 2 hours before the pickup slot starts. If you buy within those 2 hours, you can still cancel up to 5 minutes after buying. After that, you can't cancel. If the venue cancels, you automatically get the full amount back.
What if I don't collect my takeaway deal in time?
Then you won't get your money back: the food was set aside for you. Flits sends you a notification when the pickup slot starts and when it's nearly over.
How do I collect my order?
Show your pickup pass: staff scan your QR code or type in your code. Or swipe to collect yourself; that only works within the pickup slot and when you're at the venue. Then show the moving confirmation screen to staff.
Where can I see the allergens?
On every takeaway deal, before you buy: "contains" or "may contain" for each of the 14 EU allergens. A surprise bag lists every allergen it could contain. Flag your own allergens in the app: they'll be highlighted, and you won't get notifications for takeaway deals that contain them. The venue is responsible for the information being correct. If in doubt, ask the venue before you buy.
Something was wrong with my takeaway order. What now?
Report it within 24 hours in the app, via your order or Profile → Help. Add a photo if you can. You follow your report as a conversation in the app. If your complaint is upheld, you get your money back via your original payment method. It usually reaches your account within 5–10 working days, depending on your bank.
The venue won't give me the discount. What do I do?
In the app, open Profile → Help and start a conversation about your claim. If you're at the venue right now, tap "I'm at the venue now": your conversation then gets top priority. After a visit, you can also choose "Deal not honoured" in your review. If your report is upheld, you get €5 Flits credit.
How many notifications will I get?
Max. 3 a day by default, with quiet hours from 22:30 to 10:00. You choose 1, 2, 3 or 5 a day, on which days, and which kinds of deals. Notifications about your own claim or order don't count. We never send deals by email.
Why do I need to confirm my phone number?
Just once, right before your first claim or purchase. It keeps fake accounts and no-shows out: one number belongs to one account. Your number is stored encrypted and venues never see it.
What does the venue see about me?
Only what's needed to handle your deal: your first name and initial, how many of you there are or how many you're buying, your note, your expected arrival time or order number, and possibly the Top guest or New label. No phone number, no email address, no location.
Do deals apply to alcohol?
That depends on the municipality: some municipalities restrict price promotions on alcohol in bars and restaurants, and then the discount doesn't apply to alcohol. Where it's allowed, you confirm you're 18+ for a deal with alcohol, and the venue may ask for ID. Takeaway deals never include alcohol.
How does inviting friends work?
Share your personal link or code via Profile → Invite friends. After your friend's first redemption, you both get €2 Flits credit for a takeaway deal. Flits pays for the credit; the venue still gets the full amount.
Is Flits available for Android?
Flits is available for iPhone and iPad.
How do I delete my account?
In the app under Profile → Privacy & data. You confirm with Face ID or an email code. You then have 30 days to restore your account. Open table claims are cancelled without a strike; you can still collect open takeaway orders, or they're refunded if that's still possible within the cancellation window. You can also download all your data there.
How quickly can I go live?
You sign up in the app: find your business, enter your KvK (Dutch Chamber of Commerce) number and verify your location. If your business has its own website, you get a code at your business email address (for example info@yourbusiness.nl) and you're verified straight away. Otherwise you take a photo of your shopfront with a code in the app; we check it within 4 working hours, and within 1 working day at the latest. In the meantime you can set up your profile and schedule deals. Once verified, you put a deal live in 15 seconds.
What if nobody comes?
Then you pay nothing extra: we don't charge commission. The deal does count towards the number of deals in your plan. Beforehand, the decision helper shows how many guests you can expect, based on your own previous deals or the average in your city. On Plus and Pro, a second notification wave goes out automatically if your deal is less than half full after a third of its run time. You can always pause or end a deal.
What if too many people come?
That can't happen: you set the number of tables or seats. Once the deal is full, nobody else can claim. Guests can have at most 1 table claim at a time, and the group size may differ by no more than 1 person. If you pause or end a deal, existing claims stay valid. Everyone who checks in within the window gets the discount.
What do I do at the till?
Scan the guest's code with Flits, or type it in. For a table deal, the app shows the exact discount line for your till, for example "FLITS €10.00 table discount — ref 482913", with a copy button. A takeaway order has already been paid through Flits: don't ring it up as a new sale, record it as a Flits sale. The amount for your end-of-day report is shown with it.
How do payouts work?
Takeaway payments go into your own Stripe account. Stripe pays out every week, on Monday, minus €0.79 per order. A refund after a justified complaint is deducted from your next payout. In the app you see every payout broken down per order, and you can download a monthly statement (PDF) for your bookkeeping. Table deals don't go through Flits: those guests simply pay you.
Who is responsible for allergens?
You are, just as with your regular sales. The 14 EU allergens are mandatory for every takeaway deal ("contains" or "may contain"). For a surprise bag you enter all possible allergens. Guests always see them before they buy. You confirm the allergens for every deal, and with the allergen library you only need to enter them once per product.
Can I cancel?
Yes, monthly. The link to your Stripe customer portal is in every invoice email. Your subscription runs until the end of the current period. There are no set-up fees.
Can I offer discounts on alcohol?
That depends on your municipality. Municipalities may restrict or ban price promotions on alcohol in hospitality; Amsterdam, for example, bans them. There, a discount on the whole bill automatically becomes "excl. alcohol". In other municipalities alcohol may be part of a table deal, but never an alcohol-only deal with more than 25% off, and never "unlimited drinks". Guests confirm they are 18+, and the ticket says "ID may be requested". Age checks remain your responsibility. Takeaway deals never include alcohol.
Who can see my data?
Guests see your business profile and your deals. Your financial figures (spend, food cost, cannibalisation) are visible only to the owner or manager, and payouts only to the owner. From guests, you only get what you need to honour the deal: first name and initial, group size or quantity, an optional note, the reliability label, the expected arrival time and the order number. We never share guests' phone numbers or locations. In your insights, guests are anonymised. Read more in our privacy policy.
Why don't I pay in the app?
Your subscription is a business agreement. You arrange it through a secure Stripe link in your email, with iDEAL and direct debit. The same goes for boosts and extra deals: you buy them through the link in your email or via your City Lead, and they appear as credit in the app.
